What makes Greg Page tick?
It wasn’t until later in life that Greg Page, the original Yellow Wiggle, realised he had suffered serious self-esteem issues as a teenager.
He noticed his hair had started to go grey at 16, something that strongly contributed to that feeling.
“I don’t want to be grey by the time I’m 21,” he told Neil Mitchell.
“That was a big thing, that was a big blow to my self-esteem and self-confidence, but I still had the confidence to do that I could do, because I believed I was quite good at those things.”
The feelings lasted some time into his adult life, even though he wasn’t aware of it.
“I think it’s one of those things that plays in the subconscious of your mind, it’s not really at the forefront of your mind,” he said.
“And for me I think being in The Wiggles was a great thing, because it gave me that feeling of being valued and worthy and doing something good with my life.”
Two serious health scared greatly affected Greg’s physical life without changing his optimistic outlook.
He went into cardiac arrest after suffering a serious heart attack in January 2020 while on stage.
Witnesses rushed to his side to perform CPR, saving his life.
He was also told he had seven years to live in 2006 after being diagnosed with orthostatic intolerance.
“Of course when I thought I might have had seven years to live … I think I was about 34 at that time, that was bit confronting, that was a bit daunting,” he told Neil Mitchell.
“My outlook on life has always been very positive and still is.”
