What makes Mark Knight tick

Mark Knight says copping the cane at school for drawing pictures of his teachers quite probably spurred him on to keep doing it.

Eventually, it was politicians who would replace his teachers as his subjects.

“I guess teachers were what politicians are to me now,” the Herald Sun cartoonist told Neil Mitchell on Tuesday.

“They were figures of authority, so you would take the p*** out of them, so to speak, and it would invariably get you in trouble, or get you on the front page of the school magazine.”

What makes you tick?

That’s the question at the heart of Neil Mitchell’s new segment.

Every Tuesday, Neil will speak to someone about the formative experiences that made them what they are.

Mark Knight was this week’s subject.

He spoke about his favourite cartoons over the years, and how he dealt with the backlash from his now infamous depiction of Serena Williams back in 2018.
