What prompted an AFL coaching great to help a struggling country club

An interview with the president of a struggling country footy club last week prompted Mick Malthouse to give Neil Mitchell a call.

The Wahgunyah Lions had suffered a staggering 431-point loss in the seniors, missing some two dozen players due to injury and COVID.

The president, Darryl Hore, said times were even tougher for country footy clubs in a post-pandemic world.

So three-time premiership coach Mick Malthouse is getting involved.

So he’s decided to try and do something to help.
