What ‘really struck’ Neil Mitchell while he was looking at tragic photos from Ukraine

Tom Elliott

Neil Mitchell was looking at tragic photos emerging from the war in Ukraine when one thing “really struck him”.

“It’s the tragedy of the human condition,” the 3AW Mornings host said.

“Here we are, the world is in the middle of a pandemic, the world is in the middle of an international crisis which theoretically can change the face of this planet forever.

“Theoretically it is a threat to a life we know and understand, a genuine crisis – one enemy that threatens the whole planet in a sense – and humanity can’t put personal grievances and hatreds aside for long enough to combine against that viral enemy.

“Dangerous men have to do dangerous things. Nations have to try to kill people who happen to live in other nations.”
