Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s 60 Minutes appearance was all over social media, even before it aired last night.

Neil Mitchell says one thing about it stood out to him.

“Jenny Morrison, his wife, looked to be his best asset, which is also not unusual for prime ministers,” the 3AW Mornings host said.

“She was warm, she was engaging, she made some sense, nothing contentious but enough to be real.

“It reminded me so many leaders often have impressive partners … think of the warmth of Hazel Hawke, think of the strength of Jeanette Howard.”

But Neil Mitchell says the fiery outrage over the interview from some on social media is wrong.

“The left is going after him,” he said.

“It didn’t do any harm, the 60 Minutes program last night,” he said.

“It was an election cliché — how to be humanised is page three in the election playbook.

“There is no problem with this, it’s a piece of nonsense, yes, it’s part of the political cycle.

“Now 60 Minutes will do similar with Anthony Albanese – hopefully he won’t sing!”
