Tom Elliott loves to reminisce about the old days of watching his Blues at Princes Park.

Mud in the middle, one umpire, kick-to-kick after the game – many consider it the golden age of VFL/AFL.

So he’s excited about the Blues hosting fierce rival Essendon at their traditional home for a NAB Challenge match on Sunday.

And Carlton historian Tony de Bolfo agreed it will be a great chance for the younger generation to experience the football of yesteryear.

Neither club is expected to set the world on fire this season, but Tom said fans shouldn’t take traditional rivals playing at a suburban ground for granted.

‘It won’t happen very often. Make the most of it.’
