One thing that has struck Neil Mitchell as he speaks to the locals on his tour of New Zealand.

People unanimously agree it’s a safe place to live.

So Neil spoke to the head of New Zealand’s Police Association, Senior Sergeant Greg O’Connor, about what we can learn from the Kiwis in the area of law enforcement.

Mr O’Connor gave a number of examples of NZ police policy, including:

  • Unarmed police
  • Officers are issued the latest iPhone
  • Police can pursue offenders in cars, although only with ‘pretty good justification’
