‘Where is it?’: Neil Mitchell’s question as hospitals battle winter strain
Winter has arrived, but it’s unclear if a ‘winter plan’ for Victoria’s hospitals has.
At a national cabinet meeting in March, states and territories agreed to draw up winter preparedness plans for COVID-19 and the flu.
But sources in the hospital system have told Neil Mitchell “if there is one, it hasn’t filtered through”.
“They suspect there isn’t one,” the 3AW Mornings host said.
“Is that true? That’s the question to Daniel Andrews today.
“The rest of the world seems to have quite detailed winter plans for hospitals. I saw one in Ireland, in Cork, 40 pages of it — publicly released — everything from available beds, emergency provisions, vaccination, they even released their modelling, which the Andrews government will not release.
“It’s happening in the United States, the UK as well. We usually have them. Now where is it?
“Winter has started. If ever we needed a plan for winter in the hospitals it is this year.”
