Owner of Cherry Bar in the CBD, James Young, has opened up on why he decided to write a ‘love letter’ to British rock band Oasis, while slamming the state government at the same time.

Mr Young told Tom Elliott it’s been a “very rough time in hospitality” recently, with Oasis not only bringing an injection of money, but an “injection of energy”.

And the 3AW Mornings host asked him what he would like the City of Melbourne and the state government to do differently.

“Our government has dropped the ball in terms of supporting small business, in terms of making our city safe,” Mr Young said on 3AW Mornings.

“I hope our councils and our government pay attention, and embrace the good times and the support of the creative sector that has been shat on for the past five years.”
