Beach-goers at three popular locations on the Mornington Peninsula will be slugged up to $19.50 in parking fees this summer.

Parking at Flinders Pier, Schnapper Point and Sunnyside Beach — which was previously free, will cost $6.20 an hour — with fees capped at $19.50 per day.

Mornington Peninsula Shire mayor Simon Brooks says with 7.5 million visitors coming to the Mornington Peninsula each year, paid parking will help the council raise funds for maintenance costs associated with the growing tourist numbers.
