Why a group of Victoria’s most prominent legal identities are concerned by the pandemic bill
A group of Victoria’s most eminent QCs and legal identities have written and co-signed an open letter expressing deep concern about the pandemic bill being pushed by the Victorian government.
Paul Hayes QC told Neil Mitchell the group had two broad concerns with the bill, in its current form.
He said there was a lack of checks and balances.
And the powers are too broad.
Mr Hayes told Neil Mitchell it would give future governments, not necessarily the one in power now, the ability to “rule by decree”.
