A new study has found almost four in five Victorians want to ride a bike as a mode of transport but are put off by a lack of infrastructure and safety concerns.

Some 4000 people, all across Victoria, took part in the research that found 78 per cent of respondents wanted to ride a bike.

“It’s far higher than we previously thought,” Lauren Pearson, PhD Candidate in the Sustainable Mobility and Safety Research Group at Monash University, told 3AW Drive.

“It really highlights this huge opportunity for a large scale shift to healthy and more active modes of transport.”
