A global Islamic politics professor says Israel’s “gloves have come off” following threats made by a senior Hamas official.

Dr Greg Barton from the Alfred Deakin institute for citizenship and globalisation at Deakin University says Israel needs to be smart about how they respond to Hamas’ threats.

“Hamas must have known in by doing this really outrageous terror attack on October 7, that it was poking Israel to come into the Gaza Strip, so it wanted that,” he told Tom Elliott.

He also says there’s no credibility in saying Palestinians in Gaza voted for the group back in 2006.

“More than half the population are under the age of 18 … so those guys certainly didn’t vote for Hamas,” he said.
