Why Australians haven’t been using their annual leave
Australian workers have built up a record 185 million days of annual leave owed, with the COVID-19 pandemic blamed for people not wanting to take time off.
But it’s led to rates of burn-out “going through the roof” according to a workplace performance expert.
Tony Wilson told 3AW Breakfast it was vital to take time away from work, for health reasons alone.
“You absolutely do,” he said.
“I think, especially given the past couple of years, people almost think there is no point taking annual leave, because we haven’t been able to go anywhere.
“That is the biggest thing behind it. ”
