Why blaming the footy players who had personal images leaked is ‘deflecting’
Following news 45 former and current footy players have had their personal images leaked without their consent – a cyber security expert says blaming them is deflecting away from the crime.
Susan McClean says if the photos are found to be real or deep-faked, the individual who uploaded the photos is at fault.
“We also don’t know, assuming they’re real – the ones that are – were they taken with the consent of the person pictured or were they taken without the consent, so there’s multiple criminality here, none of which is the fault of the AFL player,” she told Tom Elliott, filling in for Neil Mitchell.
