Why cats are the focus of new federal government crackdown
The federal government will begin to crackdown on both pet and feral cats as they contribute to Australia’s wildlife crisis with a draft plan released yesterday.
Advocacy manager for the Invasive Species Council, Jack Gough, says 2 billion native animals are killed every year by cats.
“And about half a billion are attributable to pet cats, so roaming pet cats, they are a serious environmental menace unfortunately,” he told Neil Mitchell.
