There are concerns the current bail system is too lax with people claiming they’ve been victims of crime by the same groups more than once.

SC national criminal justice spokesman for the Australian Lawyers Alliance, Greg Barnes, says bail legislation for children is the same as adult bail legislation, but with a twist.

“That is, there are other factors that judges and magistrates have to take into account,” he told Tom Elliott.

The state government is also reportedly discussing loosening the bail laws after they were tightened in 2017.
