Why Craig Foster supports public holiday push if Matildas win Women’s World Cup
Former Socceroo Craig Foster has backed Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s push for a public holiday if the Matildas win the Women’s World Cup.
It comes after former Matildas star Melissa Barbieri unloaded on the Prime Minister in a stunning attack, claiming the sport should receive a lot more funding rather than a public holiday.
Foster agrees with Barbieri that funding for women’s soccer and sport in general is “certainly not where it could be or where it should be”, but is glad the topic has been brought to the forefront in light of the Matildas’ success.
