Why Georgie Purcell supports the controversial emergency services levy

Animal Justice Party MP, Georgie Purcell, has been questioned by Jacqui Felgate on why she chose to support the controversial emergency services levy.
Ms Purcell said the levy is “something that CFA volunteers have been asking for for so long”.
“I don’t regret supporting this bill, I do regret the distress that it’s caused the community, I’m fully aware of that,” she said on 3AW Drive.

“This bill does so many things that people don’t realise, and it does so many things that these volunteers have actually been asking for.”
Secretary of the United Firefighters Union, Peter Marshall, then called in after the interview, and strongly disagreed with what the Animal Justice Party MP had to say.
“It would’ve been nice if Georgie had’ve taken the time to meet with firefighters,” Mr Marshall told Jacqui Felgate.
“I listened to some of the interview and sadly a lot of what she said is incorrect.”
