A Melbourne-based planner says he’d effectively shut the CBD’s “little” streets to traffic in a bid to improve the city.

Vaughn Allan works at the Institute for Sensible Transport and told Neil Mitchell he’d start with closing off Little Bourke, Little Collins, Little Lonsdale and Flinders Lane to general traffic.

“I think they’ve got the most potential to make the CBD even more vibrant and economically vibrant,” he said.

Mr Allan said any perceived negative impacts would be minimal.
