Melbourne train patronage expected to hit a three-year high today
Today is expected to be the busiest day on Melbourne’s train network in more than three years.
General manager of network performance at Metro Trains, Rob Hill, says Thursdays are the busiest day on the network at the moment.
“On our Thursdays we are seeing upward of around 460,000 passengers travelling in to work and offices,” he told Ross and Russel

And with today being Oaks Day, two morning peaks are expected.
“We have our usual commuter passengers coming into the city but we also have our people going out to the races during the day so we end up with a couple of peaks in the morning,” Mr Hill said.
“We’re seeing around up to 40 per cent of the passengers who are travelling out there getting our trains to get there.”
