Why Mont Albert residents are furious over five memorial trees being chopped down

Mont Albert residents say they’re horrified after five trees planted in memory of locals who fought at Gallipoli were chopped down.

Kierston rang 3AW Mornings from the Avenue Of Honour on Churchill Street on Thursday.

“We can’t believe the lack of respect,” she said while watching some of the trees being felled.

“These trees were planted to memorialise nine of our World War One local boys, who went and fought at Gallipoli.

“I’m horrified.”
