President of the North Melbourne Football Club, Sonja Hood, has voiced her disappointment with Crown Casino over her inability to use a gift card she received back in 2020.

The gift card is worth $300 and she received it for her 50th birthday, but after going through the pandemic and then breast cancer, she has been unable to use it, and the casino is refusing to honour it.

“It’s a gift worth having, and it was a pretty cheap response from them I reckon,” Ms Hood told Shane McInnes on 3AW Mornings.

In a statement sent to 3AW on Friday afternoon, Crown confirmed they would honour vouchers which weren’t able to be used during the pandemic.

“We are committed to helping our guests to take full advantage of their Crown Gifts, and will honour and extend gift card expiry dates to cover any period that the card was unable to be used due to the closure of Crown Melbourne,” the statement read.
