The managing director of a recruiting agency says online job interviews are here to stay, even once the COVID-19 pandemic eases.

Tom Elliott admits he’d struggle to employ somebody without meeting them in person first.

Erin Devlin, from people2people Victoria, said the job market was currently dictated by what candidates preferred and not the employer.

“In this world, it is reasonable, because of the situation we find ourselves in,” she said on 3AW Drive.

“Is it more difficult to make an assessment, on both sides? Probably, yes.

“But it’s certainly the way of the current market.”

Ms Devlin said there was no doubt meeting people in person had its advantages for both parties.
