Almost every worker has had a moment where they dreamed of retiring early and never working again.

But it turns out it’s not for everybody.

Professor Carol Maher, Professor of Exercise, Nutrition and Activity (ARENA) at UniSA, said everybody was different but employment often provided many positives in life that can be loss once a person finishes working.

An income, structure and satisfaction are among the key benefits of being in work.

“People can lose that structure when they transition to retirement which can actually not be great for their wellbeing,” she said on 3AW.
