A South Australian shopping centre has been asked by iconic naturalist Sir David Attenborough to correct a plaque that falsely credits him with a quote about bees.

He never said such thing.

And it turns out it’s not uncommon.

There are plenty of famous quotes, lines and phrases that have been falsely repeated and misattributed.

Billy Sung, consumer psychology expert from Curtin University, said the human brain easily misinterpreted information.

“It’s caused by what we call false memory,” he said.
