Following the federal government’s decision to ship 20,000 tonnes of plastic overseas, the director of One Planet Consulting says Australia does not have the processing capacity to recycle plastic waste domestically.

Helen Millicer told Tom Elliott the government’s decision follows a ban implemented in 2021 by the then Liberal government.

‘The problem has been … we haven’t got the processing capacity here in time to meet that ban,” Ms Millicer said.
