The federal government is looking boost housing supply across Australia, offering state and local councils $3.5 billion to fast-track the construction of 1.2 million homes over the next five years.

Chief political editor for the Australian Financial Review, Phillip Coorey, likened the housing push to the popular movie, The Hunger Games, based on several districts fighting for their right to survive.

“If you do these things, and gets these things done, we’ll reward you with money,” Mr Coorey told Ross and Russel.
