The Vice President of the Australian Dental Association Victorian Branch says the jury is out on whether an electric toothbrush is more effective than a manual one.

It comes after Tom Elliott saw a study that said manual brushing was more effective.

“Whenever you find one person or one group saying it’s a benefit, you’ll find another that says it isn’t,” Dr Warren Shnider said.

He said one thing was beyond dispute.

“The best toothbrush is the one that goes in your mouth, twice a day,” he said.

He also shared his thoughts on mouth washes and flossing.
