Recent polling has found the federal Coalition is leading the primary vote for the first time in two years.

Chief political correspondent at The Age, David Crowe, says the Coalitions holding 37 per cent of the primary vote compared to Labors 34 per cent, means trouble for Anthony Albanese.

“The coalition is actually in better shape then they were when they last went to the polls … they’ve gained ground,” he told Tom Elliott.

He also says while Labor broke their promise regarding the stage three tax cuts, the change has appealed to a majority of voters.

“52 per cent of people support the tax cut change, even though it was a broken promise …. and yes, 34 per cent of voters say it’s a broken promise, but 46 per cent of voters say ‘it was changing policy to suit the times’,” he said.
