Why the number of animals surrendered in Victoria has ‘skyrocketed’ in recent years
The number of animals seized or surrendered to the RSPCA has increased for a sixth year in a row, with dogs being the most common pets to be seized.
CEO of RSPCA Victoria Dr Liz Walker says the amount of animals surrendered in 2019 was 1,207, but is expected to “skyrocket” to over 3,000 animals by 2027.
