The Victorian government will kill off business in Melbourne’s CBD if it doesn’t start forcing the public service back to the office.

The Victorian head of the Australian Industry Group told 3AW Drive the state government had “no choice” but to show leadership to help businesses struggling due to a lack of patronage in the city.

“The state government has got to have some resolve here,” Tim Piper said.

“They have got to say to the public service to get back at least a few days a week, because they will be the leaders in it and creating the opportunity to bring other office workers back, as well.

“If the state government doesn’t make it happen, and encourage people to come back in, then it just won’t happen.”
