Why there’s some opposition to the push to force Netflix to make more Australian content

Lobby group Screen Producers Australia is calling for a quota on streaming platforms, forcing them to spend 20 per cent of their gross Australian revenue on local commissions.

But the proposal has been met by opposition from TV networks.

TV Blackbox co-creator Robert McKnight says it’s “an interesting quandary”.
