Why this paramedic supports drug injecting rooms
The bid to trial a drug injecting room in Melbourne is gaining serious momentum after unions, nurses, paramedics and firefighters backed the plan.
But the concept still troubles Tom Elliott, given drugs are illegal.
He asked paramedic Danny Hill, the Victorian assistant secretary of Ambulance Employees Australia, why he supported the plan.
“In a nutshell, it’ll save lives,” he said.
