Tom Elliott has called out Melbourne footballer Ben Brown and any other AFL player who has refused to let the league’s wagering partner use their image for “ethical” reasons.

He says it’s hard to take their “principled stand” seriously while they were still accepting the sponsorship money in their contracts.

“If you want to talk the talk, then walk the walk,” Tom Elliott said on Thursday.

“I would believe Ben Brown if he gave up 20 per cent of his pay, or every dollar that comes from a gambling company, and I bet he is not doing that.”

Dr Charles Livingstone is a gambling researcher at Monash University and said gambling was “pretty much on the nose” in the community.

“Nothing is going to change if we just go along with things,” he said.
