Why Tom Elliott claims MPs have been ‘hoodwinked’ by the state government
Tom Elliott says Upper House MPs who voted in support of the fire services levy have been hoodwinked by the state government.
His comments come as Victorians begin to receive their rate bills with the fire services levy tacked on.
“They don’t realise it is yet another tax increase, this time on ratepayers,” he said.

State Nationals Leader Danny O’Brien says he’s saddened to hear how Victorians have been impacted by the increase to their rates.
“A $3 billion hit on Victorians from this government over the next couple of years, and it’s coming at a time where we already have a cost-of-living crisis,” he said.
