Why Tom Elliott has labelled Anthony Albanese’s HECS decision a ‘good move’
Tom Elliott has labelled a decision by the Albanese government to refund $3 billion worth of HECS debt, a good move, but says it won’t impact anyone’s decision to go to university.
He says there haven’t been much change to the proportion of GDP to tertiary education.
“But back when I went to uni, only one in five school leavers went to university, now it’s about sixty per cent, so it’s the same amount of money we’re spending, but three times the amount of students,” he said.
