Tom Elliott is dubious about a fresh report from the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre that has recommended supervised drug injecting facilities at Footscray, St Kilda and Frankston, along with the CBD.

The facility at North Richmond has been the source of much debate.

Associate Professor Peter Higgs, Senior Fellow at the Burnet Institute, worked on the report and told Tom Elliott most drug users they surveyed weren’t actually using the North Richmond facility.

Tom Elliott asked whether local businesses and parents of children had been surveyed.

“That wasn’t part of this particular part of the study, but that is obviously an important consideration,” Associate Professor Higgs said.
