Tom Elliott says the reopening approaches NSW and Victoria are taking are “like chalk and cheese” and he can’t understand why.

From Monday, restrictions in NSW will be eased significantly.

It comes after the state hit 70 per cent double-dose vaccination among over-16s.

Tom Elliott has compared the rule easing in NSW on Monday with the rule easing included in Victoria’s reopening roadmap when we have 70 per cent of over-16s fully vaccinated.

“It’s clear to me that NSW just has a different approach to all of this compared to Victoria. Their lockdown was never as tough,” the 3AW Drive host said.

“I mean, take masks — in NSW as of next Monday you’ll only have to wear a mask indoors. When we get to 70 per cent here in Melbourne you’ll still have to wear a mask both indoors and outdoors.

“Visitors to the home — As of next Monday you can have up to 10 people, not including kids, in your house in NSW. Even when we get to 70% double vaxxed here in Victoria you can’t have anybody visiting your house.

“Why? Why is it so different?

“Why is the health advice in NSW so different to the health advice here in Victoria?”
