Why Tony Jones has started to change his tune on pill testing at music festivals
Tony Jones has started to change his tune on pill testing at music festivals.
It comes after eight people were hospitalised following suspected drug overdoses at the Hardmission Festival at Flemington Racecourse on the weekend.
“Based on what we saw over the weekend, I’m starting to come around to the fact that yes we need pill testing,” Jones said.

The Ambulance Union says the mass recreational drug overdose at the weekend rave reinforces the need for mandatory pill testing and increased education.
Breathing tubes had to be placed into revellers’ throats, and seven partygoers were put into induced comas.
Secretary of the Victorian Ambulance Union Danny Hill told Tony Jones it was a dire situation, with additional MICA crews rushed in from other parts of the city.
