A doctor has explained how using certain language towards patients can alter their experience in hospital.

Senior Consultant Anaesthetist at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Dr Allan Cyna, has conducted research into how positive language can keep patients calm before medical procedures whilst negative language can increase stress and often lead to patient complaints.

“Patients often misinterpret what doctors are saying and vice-versa, so it’s important to listen in carefully so everyone is on the same page,” Dr Cyna told Ross and Russel.
