Why young drivers are at greater risk than normal this summer

There are fears young Victorian drivers will be at greater risk than normal this summer due to the impacts of lockdown.

Driving instructor Stan Gates, president of the Australian Drivers Association, said there was no doubt the concerns were valid.

“But it’s not just p-platers,” he said.

“There are a few ratbags out there, but unfortunately with the lockdowns we’ve had they really haven’t had the proper training and there has been a rush once it was lifted to just knock up the hours.”
