Widow ‘perplexed’ over Eastlink letter to send in e-TAG or cop a $40 fine
A widow who sold her husband’s car says she was perplexed to receive a letter from EastLink telling her to send back the e-TAG in his car within seven days or cop a $40 fine.
Judy told Neil Mitchell she sold her husband’s car on Sunday.
“I called EastLink to see whether the remaining funds in his account could be transferred to my car, I was told no but they would send me a refund cheque for the balance of his account, there was no mention that I had to send in his e-TAG.”
EastLink spokesman Doug Spencer-Roy later told Neil Mitchell e-TAGs could be re-conditioned after an account had been closed.
“It certainly does seem to be insensitively worded and we need to have another look at that process,” he said.
