A Williamstown family has urged others in their area to keep their pets inside after a heartbreaking attack.

The Mandato family’s eleven-year-old Pomeranian, Abby, usually slept inside the home, but due to a bout of illness which led to her urinating inside at night, she was sleeping in a kennel outside temporarily.

On July 15, she was mauled by a fox.

“It’s still very, very raw,” Lou Mandato told Neil Mitchell.

“Occasionally coming home late at night we see foxes in the street.

“Keep your pets inside at night by all means, I don’t want any other family to lose a pet tragically like my family has.”
