The Labor Party’s national conference is set to examine a new gas tax, with some calling for a new gas export tax of up to 25 per cent.

The Australia Institute executive director Dr Richard Dennis told 3AW Mornings host Tom Elliott this would be a win-win for Australia.

Press PLAY to hear what this tax would mean for everyday Australians

“Not only would we collect $17 billion a year if we started taxing the exports, the gas industry would divert more gas to the Australian market and it would push the price that we pay down,” he said.
