Woman dead and child seriously injured in Gippsland crash

A woman has died and a child has been seriously injured in a crash in Gippsland.

A car crashed into trees after the driver lost control of the vehicle at Flynn just before 8pm on Monday.

A female passenger died at the scene Rosedale-Flynns Creek Road and achild was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

The male driver is under police guard in hospital with suspected non-life-threatening injuries.

The area has been cordoned off as detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

There have been 114 lives lost on Victoria’s roads this year, up from 86 at the same time last year.
