A woman who says she placed a thank you note to firefighters in the classifieds has been prompted to phone 3AW after hearing suggestions it was fake.

The Rumour File was alerted to the classified on Wednesday, with ‘Thank You Note” skeptical about its authenticity.

That prompted Samantha to phone in.

She says she wrote it.

Samantha told Ross and John her family had only just moved in to their Ascot Vale house before it caught fire in August.

“They were so humble,” she said.

“In light of everything that’s been going on in the media recently … I posted the ad before I was aware of any of this.

“I was a bit iffy about calling in this morning and having a chat, but once I heard there was somebody who was a bit skeptical, I thought it was only fair that I called up.

“We don’t thank our emergency services enough for what they do.”
