A woman is in hospital after a motorist hurled a bottle at her head and screamed abuse at a group of cyclists on Beach Road.
The shocking road rage incident this morning has left the cycling community furious and determined to find the driver responsible.
Greg, the partner of the injured woman, told Neil Mitchell cyclists regularly cop vitriol along Beach Road but this incident was especially disturbing.
He watched on as a driver of a dark green commodore yelled abuse at a group of cyclists while driving past.
Greg said the driver then performed a U-Turn and drove back towards the cyclists, before throwing a 1.25 litre soft drink bottle at his wife, hitting her in the head.
‘It caused her to crash immediately and hit the road,’ Greg said.
The woman suffered injuries to her head and shoulder and was left covered in blood. She is now recovering in hospital.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Bayside police station.
