Woman left frustrated after accidentally uncovering bizarre insurance ‘quirk’
A simple keyboard ‘typo’ while filling in an insurance form has helped a woman uncover a frustrating inconsistency in the system she can’t make sense of.
Jan Bell told Neil Mitchell she got her renewal form recently, which flagged her car premium had gone up 17.6 per cent and would cost $1051.
She filled the form in again online, with exactly the same options, but the price showed $757.

Jan rang AAMI to find out why there was such a significant change from the initial quote, when it was discovered she’d accidentally entered the wrong address – a house “five doors down” from her own.
It turns out every house on her street spat out a significantly different price.
The house next door to her own was almost $500 cheaper.
