Woman rescued from river and arrested in Footscray overnight

A 48-year-old woman has been rescued from a river and arrested following a pursuit in Footscray.

Police first tried to intercept the silver Nissan X-Trail on Joseph Road around 1am.

It’s alleged the woman got out near the Maribyrnong river, pushed the vehicle in there and also entered the water.
